     Scottie Scheffler finally secured the £19 million FedEx Cup prize at the Tour Championship on Sunday, triumphing over Collin Morikawa by four shots at East Lake.

      The golf sensation couldn’t hide his joy as he celebrated the monumental win with his infant son, Bennett, in a heartwarming display. After narrowly missing out on the season-long title in both 2022 and 2023, Scheffler’s persistence paid off as he finished the tournament with an astounding 30-under-par.

   His success was partly due to the staggered stroke event, which granted him a 10-under head start at the beginning of the week.

       Heading into the final round with a commanding five-shot lead, Scheffler was the player to beat. Despite a determined effort from Ryder Cup and Olympic teammate Collin Morikawa, who aimed to close the gap, Scheffler maintained his composure and delivered a steady four-under 67 on the final day. This secured his Tour Championship victory by a comfortable margin of four shots.

       As the world No. 1 walked off the 18th green, emotional scenes unfolded as he was joined by his young son, Bennett, and his wife, Meredith. The family soaked in the applause from an enthralled Atlanta crowd. The birth of their first child earlier this year added an extra layer of joy for Scheffler, coming just weeks after his Masters victory.

       Reflecting on a whirlwind year marked by seven PGA Tour victories, an Olympic gold medal, a major championship, and the joy of fatherhood, Scheffler expressed his amazement post-victory: “I feel like I’ve lived almost a full lifetime in this one year. It’s been nuts. I think it always comes back to my faith, which keeps me grounded and in the right frame of mind.”

      Scheffler added: “The gold medal is pretty cool. Even though it’s been over a month now since it happened, you still hear people chanting ‘U-S-A,’ and that’s pretty special. I take a lot of pride in being an American, so it’s fun to bring home that gold medal. As for the year, I really don’t know how to put it into words.”

       Interestingly, Scheffler had previously expressed doubts about the staggered stroke system based on FedEx Cup standings before the Tour Championship. Despite his skepticism and only receiving a two-shot lead this week due to his 25-week reign at the top, Scheffler made the most of his advantage, overcoming what he had previously labeled a ‘silly’ format. After missing out to Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland in previous years, it’s speculated that those past disappointments fueled his candid critique.

    VNow, with his long-awaited victory at East Lake, Scheffler shared his thoughts on the win: “It’s a lot of fun. We’ve put in a lot of work to get to this point, and it’s been a long week. Right now, I’m just pretty tired, so I don’t really know how to put this into words. But it’s a pretty special feeling to finally hold the trophy.”
